Numerical and experimental study of co-combustion of refuse-derived fuels in a circulating fluidized bed during load change

This study presents a comprehensive dynamic process simulation model of 1 MW th circulating fluidized bed test facility applied for lignite and refuse-derived fuel co-combustion. The developed describes the riser supplying system with high level detail considering heat transfer, gas-solid interaction, combustion, fluid dynamics. was first tuned at two steady-state operation points then validated by measured data from long-term campaign various loads (60%–80% to 100%). During load changes, simulated pressure temperature profiles along combustor as well flue gas concentrations agree very measurement data. Finally, increasing proportion waste-derived in co-combustion investigated evaluate flexibility its use power generation further reduce CO 2 emissions.
